Agroécologie: une coalition s’entend sur une définition rénovée
Chambres d’agriculture, industriels, coopératives, Agences de l’eau et agriculteurs: près de 200 acteurs réunis à l’initiative de l’Agence bio, de l’initiative «4 pour 1000» et de l’association Pour une agriculture du vivant ont réaffirmé une définition commune de l’agroécologie à l’occasion d’un événement organisé à Beauvais les 12 et 13 avril. «Nous nous sommes entendus sur deux points principaux. Tout d’abord, l’agroécologie n’est pas un label, mais bien une démarche de progrès qui n’est pas figée», précise Anne Trombini, directrice générale de Pour une agriculture du vivant. Deuxième point de consensus: «Cette transition se fera sur plusieurs axes dont la biodiversité et le stockage de carbone». La définition de l’agroécologie introduite dans la loi d’avenir de 2014 mériterait donc, selon elle, d’être «précisée, notamment par des indicateurs plus clairs». Autre résultat de ces «Défis de l’agroécologie» de Beauvais: une feuille de route nationale détaillant une quarantaine de solutions et projets à mener à court ou moyen terme. «Une déclinaison par filière et territoire sera mise en place», prévoit Anne Trombini. Alors que s’ouvre un nouveau quinquennat, les participants ont également identifié plusieurs chantiers politiques prioritaires, dont une réforme de la Pac, ainsi qu’une réglementation facilitant le financement de l’agroécologie.

Huit sociétés ont décidé de fonder une nouvelle association "Climate Agriculture Alliance" afin de favoriser la décarbonation de l'agriculture et l'adoption de l'agroécologie.
Huit sociétés - Farmleap, Gaïago, Terraterre, Soil Capital, Carbone farmers, Rize ag, MyEasyFarm et Genesis - ont décidé de lancer une nouvelle association afin d'appuyer la décarbonation de l'agriculture.

Alors que l'Amérique du Nord subit une sécheresse sans précédent, le pire épisode enregistré depuis 1200 ans, au sud du continent, le Chili se prépare à un rationnement d'eau. Le centre du pays subit un déficit de pluviométrie record. En France, le pire est à craindre alors que plusieurs régions subissent elles aussi des sécheresses historiques. Incorporation of novel foods in European diets can reduce global warming potential, water use and land use by over 80%
Global food systems face the challenge of providing healthy and adequate nutrition through sustainable means, which is exacerbated by climate change and increasing protein demand by the world’s growing population. Recent advances in novel food production technologies demonstrate potential solutions for improving the sustainability of food systems. Yet, diet-level comparisons are lacking and are needed to fully understand the environmental impacts of incorporating novel foods in diets. Here we estimate the possible reductions in global warming potential, water use and land use by replacing animal-source foods with novel or plant-based foods in European diets. Using a linear programming model, we optimized omnivore, vegan and novel food diets for minimum environmental impacts with nutrition and feasible consumption constraints. Replacing animal-source foods in current diets with novel foods reduced all environmental impacts by over 80% and still met nutrition and feasible consumption constraints.

French company Yves Saint Laurent launched the "Rewild Our Earth" program on April 22, 2022 on World Earth Day. Implemented in collaboration with Re: Wild, the program will restore 1,000 hectares of land in Morocco and plant 400,000 trees in Madagascar.
